Start with the dishes

Start with the kind of meal you want: springy noodles and sauce, soft steamed dumplings, or a rice dish. NAVAT’s English menu makes laghman, manti, plov and beshbarmak approachable first orders. One substantial main each leaves room to enjoy the meal; two people can also share manti and laghman for contrasting textures.
Home-style laghman is the saucier noodle choice. NAVAT describes elastic noodles with veal, peppers, radish, potato, garlic and herbs in a juicy sauce, with the meat and vegetables fried over an open flame before brief further cooking. Boso laghman takes the fried-noodle direction: NAVAT lists homemade noodles, veal, vegetables and spicy seasoning. Ask about heat when ordering if that matters to you.
Manti give a softer, steamed alternative to the noodles. The meat-and-onion filling sits inside individual dough parcels; NAVAT’s five-piece meat portion is useful to share alongside another main. For rice, plov combines it with carrots, onion and meat, while NAVAT’s home-style ganfan serves a lamb-and-vegetable sauce with boiled rice. Ganfan is a useful change after several noodle meals.
Beshbarmak brings boiled meat, noodles and broth together for a deliberate, heavier meal. Boorsok are small pieces of Kyrgyz bread dough fried in oil. NAVAT describes them as soft and neutral-tasting, a useful accompaniment to other food. Add them with tea or a meal if you want something on the side, rather than treating every named specialty as another main.

Faiza for a southern-side plan
Faiza is the simpler meal stop when you are already outside the square-and-park route. Its official contacts list 159 Mederova Street and 555 Zhibek Zholu Street. Choose Mederova when staying around that southern district; choose the Zhibek Zholu branch when your plans are north. NAVAT TSUM is the clearer central sightseeing option with its English menu and department-store location.
Use the branch that fits your day and leave roughly 45–60 minutes for a sit-down meal as a planning allowance. Staying near your route leaves more time for the market, museum or park afterwards.
Two dinner alternatives
Choose Frunze at 220A Abdymomunov Street when you want dinner to be part of the evening rather than a fast fuel stop. The municipal description combines Kyrgyz cuisine with modern techniques and European and Asian influences, with gallery and library dining spaces. Browse the current menu and prices when reserving. Published reservations contact: +996 551 66 44 66.
Choose Maarek for the setting: it is on the 17th floor of the Rossiya business centre at 19 Razzakov Street. The city’s tourism listing describes Kyrgyz and Central Asian dishes alongside steaks, fish and desserts, and lists it as halal and alcohol-free. For a table with the outlook you want, reserve directly at +996 502 00 22 22 and ask for the current menu.
Order a meal, rather than a list of specialties
For two people, order one five-piece meat-manti portion and one laghman to share, then add drinks and bread to taste. The steamed parcels and saucy noodles give variety without needing four substantial mains.
As a price reference, NAVAT’s delivery pages accessed 15 October 2026 show 515 KGS for five meat manti and 520 KGS for home-style laghman: 1,035 KGS for those two mains. Use those delivery-menu prices for planning, then read the branch’s dine-in menu for your restaurant bill.
The worked meal budget shows the portion arithmetic, delivery-menu scope and excluded extras.
The same two-main arithmetic can cover two separate meals for one adult, but appetite and portions decide whether that suits you. Add breakfast, drinks and any extra food when building your daily budget.
Vegetarian choices and lighter café stops
For a lighter pause, ZERNO offers a bakery-and-coffee alternative with its own cheese-making, soups, salads and desserts. Its listed branches are 31 Turusbekov Street in the western centre and 103/1A Ibraimov Street in the Victory business centre to the east. Pick the branch nearest your plans for coffee and baking or a lighter lunch.
Choose the main dish first, then ask once whether its broth, filling and cooking fat contain meat. NAVAT's potato-manti listing includes chicken, and its seasonal chive-manti description includes meat, so a vegetable-sounding name is not enough. Check dairy and eggs separately for a vegan order.
If the branch can explain those ingredients, order the dish that fits; if it cannot, switch to another dish or venue. At ZERNO, ask about the stock, filling and cooking fat in the soup or salad you choose.
Breakfast and a later brunch
For a sweet breakfast, look for blini, thin pancakes similar to crêpes: NAVAT’s breakfast delivery menu lists them with sour cream, condensed milk, banana or curd filling. Syrniki, small cakes made from tvorog (fresh curd cheese), are another listed choice. For something savoury, it lists fried eggs, scrambled eggs and omelettes; millet and rice porridge offer a different start from a plate of noodles or dumplings.
Ask the branch which breakfast dishes it serves. NAVAT TSUM’s published branch hours are 10:00–22:00, so it fits a later start; confirm breakfast availability there before planning around a particular dish. For an early departure, arrange breakfast with your accommodation.
ZERNO is better placed as brunch or a later coffee-and-bakery stop: the municipal listing shows 11:00–23:00. Its bakery, soups and salads make it a useful break between sightseeing and dinner; use the branch addresses above rather than expecting an early café opening.
Explore the food and market with a local guide
Choose restaurants along the side of town you will visit and leave about 45–60 minutes for a substantial meal. A bakery pause leaves more time for the square–museum–park route. For a guided introduction to food and the market, compare the food walk below and budget for the food bills separately.
For a guided introduction, choose the Kyrgyz street-food and Osh Market walk. The listed visit takes 3½–5½ hours, with food purchases paid separately. The activity is for travellers aged 10 and over. Use it as your food-and-market outing, then keep the rest of the city route for another part of the day.
